CastTV Outage Resolved
October 13, 2009 by edwin · Leave a Comment
CastTV.com had an outage this morning, and I want to apologize to everyone who tried to use the service but couldn’t during this time.
Our team cares deeply that our users get a great “one stop watching” experience at CastTV, and we take it very seriously when there’s a problem. The problem (caused by a San Francisco area storm/power outage) is now resolved, and we are working hard to make sure it never happens again. If you are still having problems, please email help AT casttv.com or me personally at edwin AT casttv.com. We really appreciate your patience during this outage and thank you for using CastTV.

More Details:
What happened: An overnight storm in the San Francisco Bay Area caused a power outage that affected our primary data center. The redundant power that was supposed to kick in did not, and that resulted in a 3-hour networking failure that impacted your ability to access CastTV.com.
Current status: Currently, CastTV.com should be accessible to everyone.
What’s next: We are working on replicating our infrastructure at another physical location so that we can more easily switch over if this happens again.

Updated: The concert is over, but now you can watch the inauguration live, with accompanying realtime Twitter feed here.
The Obama inaugural concert aired live Sunday January 18 at 11:30am(PST) and is repeating 7pm/11:30pm(EST/PST). For those who asked, here’s the code for embedding the Obama Inaugural Concert during those times:
